Not everyone likes CCTV because it can be seen to be an invasion of privacy. The last government introduced 16000 more police officers & the same amount of PCSO’s. The current proposals are to cut money that goes to the police.
I can say that people perseption of crime & the actual picture is very different and that the UK is safer now than it has ever been.

I’m sure I can get the Police and Council to have look at the area again to see what improvments can be made, the Council can look at putting in CCTV and better street lighting and remove any graffiti, and I’ll request that the Police patrol the area on a more regular basis.

I’ll email the Council and Police to investigate this issue further to see what can be done, I won’t have a full response from them though for a couple of weeks as they need to explore what changes are possible as it all depends on what money they have in their budgets which is not a lot nowadays.

I’ll pass that on t othe councillors for that area so they know your concerns, though they may be aware already.
We might be able to get more lights there, that might make you feel safer. CCTV is only any help if it’s monitored all the time, if it isn’t then all it can do is try to identify people committing crimes after they have happened, but i think it’s better to try to stop the crimes in the first place. That’s why I think better lighting, and maybe cutting back hedges etc, is a better answer to making you feel safer.
