Question: Some young people from our Foleshill Our Choice asked - Why are there not more checks done on young people to find out their correct age, when they join the education system?

    I didn’t know this was a problem. Most young people are born in the Uk and so we know their correct age already. This could only be an issue with people from outside the UK.
    Can you tell me a bit more about the problem and I’ll raise it with MGSS and others.

    I always thought you had to provide a birth certificate when joining a school to prove your age, if your saying that this is not the case then please let me know as it means that some people maybe cheating the system which isn’t fair on others.
