Most of the time I like being a councillor, even at the moment when we are having money taken away from Coventry and we can’t do all the things we would like to.
It’s good to think that you are doing something that helps other people.
Yeah I love being a Councillor for Henley ward, it’s a great honour and privilege to do the job, as you get to meet so many people and you try and help as much as you can, depending on what the issue or problem is.
I’ll be honest I don’t much enjoy long boring council meetings which can go on for hours and hours :-(, I’d rather be out in my community speaking to local residents and interacting with people face to face about issues which are relevant in their lives.
Yes- or I would not be beating my brains out as I do. You learn a lot- there is always something new. Above all, the feeling that, in a small way, I am helping to make life better for some people in need.
I really enjoy being a councillor as there is so much you can do to help people and develop the city as a whole. This week I have managed to help someone who needs to move home and a girl who had not been offered a place at a local Primary school. I enjoy being able to get things done for residents in me ward, regardless of their age or political affiliations.
If you did not enjoy being a councillor then you would not be able to put up with some of the other aspects of it such as the media attention and the criticism that comes with it. There are lots of examples of people who have stood for election once, got in and really not enjoyed it.
