Yes it does. I can’t really get to be freindly with someone who belives in things which I am totally opposed to. It’s the same everywhere when you think about it. You tend to become friends with people you have things in common with don’t you? It’s the same in polititcs!

Good friends can have strong differences of opinion & still be friends, that doesn’t mean that I don’t try & get them to agree to my way of thinking

No not at all, I have friends who vote for all different parties, I think life would be pretty sad if you based friendship on peoples voting patterns and which political party they supported. To be honest, it’s sometimes good not to talk about politics all the time and have different friends with different interests in life, that way you have a broader understanding of what people from different backgrounds and cultures experience, life would be pretty dull if we were all the same. 😉

I thought I’d answered this already but it’s come up again, so apologies if you get my answer twice!
You should, as an adult, be able to treat everyone with respect, regardless of their politics, and that is what I try to do.
As far as friendships are concerned, I have friends with lots of different views. Most of them agree with most of what I think politically, but there will always be differences, and when I am with friends we don’t just discuss politics. And there are some Conservative councillors that I am friendly with.
We all need to have a life outside politics, so while there might be people I actively avoid being friends with because of their views (eg racists), I try not to let politics affect who I can be friends with.
