I became a Councillor in May 2007 in St. Michael’s Ward in Coventry. The area I represent covers Hillfields, City Centre, parts of Stoke, Earsldon and Cheylesmore. I was involved for a long time before that though and had six goes before I was elected.

Councilors do not “work for the Council” in the same way as say Trading Standards or road planning staff. They are the Council, ie the 54 people who take the political/ financial decisions affecting the whole City.

I was elected in 2006 for Westwood Ward, which includes Canley; Tile Hill South; Broad Lane/ Jobs Lane area; Tile Hill Village, Banners Brook , Tanyard Farm and Nailcote Estates, etc.

I do a permanent 7 day week, and receive queries of all kinds. My wife will not come for a walk with me because she knows that I will always be stopped by people wanting help. I am proud to be a Director of Whitefriars Housing. I sometimes get very tired, but if you are not serving, you are not really living, so I carry on.

    Hi Josie,

I first became elected as a councillor in May 2008, so just over 2 years, it feels a lot longer that must be something to do with all the long boring meetings 😉 I represent Henley ward, which includes the following areas, Henley Green, Manor Farm, Potters Green, Walsgrave and Wood End.

Just for extra information Coventry City Council is made up of 18 wards for the whole city, and each ward has 3 councillors, each councillor has a four year term in office before having to put themselves up for election again. Would you be interested in becoming a councillor?

I was elected in May 2008 for Holbrooks Ward. I live & work in Holbrook, went to school there so it really was the only ward I wanted to represent
